In the wake of a storm, Dakota conjures the spirit of the phoenix to help bring his mountain woodland home back to life.

The Spirit Phoenix was added as an afterthought. I figure your typical immortal phoenix doesn't live in the "Legacy" universe- some of the magical beings are long-lived, yes, but none are immortal. The Phoenix in the story is more of a spirit or element, a kind of force that can be conjured by a good mage to bring back something that had once been ravaged.
